The biggest motorbike festivals of Vietnam
Vietnam is a country on two wheels: the motorbike is the main means of transport here, and the love of machines has grown into a whole culture with big festivals. And the most interesting part — the two largest motorbike festivals in the country take place right next to Nha Trang. Here are Vietnam's biggest motorbike festivals: where, when and what happens there.
A country on two wheels
There are around 77 million motorbikes in Vietnam — almost one per adult. A motorcycle here isn't a luxury but a way of life, so the love of big bikes, custom builds and group rides is huge.
Real festivals have grown out of this culture: thousands of bikers gather to show off their machines, ride in a column and simply feel the spirit of freedom. And the main such events take place on the coast — by Nha Trang and Cam Ranh.
Vietnam Bike Week — the country's main motorbike festival
Vietnam Bike Week is Vietnam's largest motorbike festival and one of the biggest in the whole Asia-Pacific region. It has been held annually since 2022, usually at the end of March, on Cam Ranh beach in Khanh Hoa province — right next to Nha Trang.
Every year thousands of bikers and more than a thousand motorcycles from across the country gather here. And in 2024 Harley-Davidson Asia named Vietnam Bike Week the best bike week organiser of the year. In essence, it's the main gathering of Vietnam's motorcycling community.
What happens at Bike Week
The three days of the festival are not just rows of gleaming motorcycles. There are bike parades, rock concerts and DJ sets, stunt shows, competitions, flyboarding on the water, machine exhibitions and even charity programmes and a gala dinner.
On site you can see motorcycles of every world brand — Harley-Davidson, Ducati, BMW Motorrad, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha. For fans it's a chance to see rare models in the flesh and meet bikers from all over the country.
Castrol Superbike Fest in Nha Trang
Another major event comes straight to Nha Trang — the international Castrol Superbike Fest. It's being held in the city for the first time, and gathers more than two thousand motorcyclists and over a hundred motorcycle clubs from around the world.
The programme includes a motorcycle parade along Nha Trang's coastal roads, live concerts, stunt performances and off-road competitions. For a seaside city it's a spectacular show that draws both tourists and locals.
The Vietnam Motorbike Festival in Ho Chi Minh City
In the south, in Ho Chi Minh City, the Vietnam Motorbike Festival takes place — a celebration of the country's street bike culture. Here the focus is on custom builds and vintage classics, and the festival itself is closer to a youth gathering.
Besides the motorcycles themselves, there's live rock and electronic music, stunt shows and a big market of biker goods. It's a showcase of how young Vietnam is reimagining its love of two wheels.
Custom, vintage and 'iron horses'
Vietnam's motorbike festivals are above all about the machines and the style. Some bring powerful touring and sports bikes, others home-made customs, and others restored classics like old Vespas and Honda Cubs.
A whole aesthetic has grown around this: leather jackets, helmets, club patches, photo zones. For many participants a festival is a way to show off their motorcycle as a work of art.
Motorcycle clubs and charity
Behind the festivals stand the motorcycle clubs — there are hundreds in Vietnam, from small city ones to international. It's they who organise the columns, rides and meet-ups, and at big events like Bike Week they all come together.
An important part of the culture is charity. Bikers organise rides to help children and those in need, raise funds and deliver gifts. So the seemingly fearsome world of motorcycles turns out to be very warm-hearted too.
Motorbike tours as part of the culture
The love of motorcycles in Vietnam is not only about festivals, but also long journeys. The famous route is the 'Ha Giang loop' in the north, among mountain switchbacks, as well as 'easy rider' tours from Da Lat through the Central Highlands.
Many tourists specially rent a bike to ride along the coast or into the mountains. Such trips have long become a distinct kind of holiday, and the festivals their logical continuation and meeting point.
Why the festivals gather near Nha Trang
It's no accident that the country's main motorbike festival settled precisely in Cam Ranh, near Nha Trang. There are long, even roads along the sea, wide beaches for the venues, a warm climate almost all year round and convenient logistics.
The Khanh Hoa coast is ideal for parades and rides: scenic routes, the sea nearby, plenty of hotels for guests. That's why our region becomes Vietnam's motorbike capital for a few days a year.
How to get to a motorbike festival
The main event — Vietnam Bike Week — takes place at the end of March in Cam Ranh, just an hour's drive from Nha Trang. The dates are announced in advance, and entry and the programme are usually open to spectators too, not only bikers.
If you're holidaying in Nha Trang at that time, a trip to the festival is a great idea: to see hundreds of motorcycles, shows and concerts. It's easy to follow the announcements on the organisers' and clubs' social media.
What it means for a visitor to Nha Trang
So Nha Trang and Cam Ranh are not only beaches, but also Vietnam's motorbike capital for a few days a year. If you catch the festival, you'll see a whole different, high-energy Vietnam.
