How to Care for Roses in Nha Trang's Heat
In hot, humid Nha Trang cut roses last less than in a cool climate — but the right care noticeably extends their freshness. A few simple habits and the bouquet will please you for days. Here is what actually works.
The first thing to do right away
Trim the stems by 1–2 cm at a 45° angle with a sharp knife (not scissors, which crush the vessels) and remove any leaves that would sit in the water. This helps the roses drink and keeps the water clean longer.
Put the bouquet in a clean vase with cool water right after delivery — don't leave it lying in the heat.
Water and temperature
Change the water daily, or twice a day in strong heat, trimming the stems a little each time. Keep the roses in the coolest spot, away from direct sun.
Air conditioning helps, but don't place the bouquet right under the cold airflow — it makes petals wilt and dry at the edges.
What not to do
Don't keep roses near fruit (it releases a gas that speeds up wilting), in direct sun, on a windowsill or next to hot appliances. Don't leave lower leaves in the water — it turns sour fast.
Don't use boiling water, and don't forget to refill: an empty vase in the heat ruins a bouquet within hours.
Little tricks
Add the flower food that comes with the bouquet, or a pinch of sugar with a couple of drops of lemon juice — that's nutrition plus light disinfection. At night you can move the bouquet to the coolest spot.
Slightly wilted roses sometimes revive if you re-cut the stems and place them in cool water for a couple of hours.
